As a total, confirmed – sometimes embarrasingly so – cheapskate – I have searched high and low for the best ways to save money on EVERYTHING. I love the whole online promo code craze – before I make any online purchase (rare as me purchasing anything may be!) I always google "promo code" or "discount code" before I hit Pay.
This whole discount code craze got me thinking : how can I get a similar discount when shopping at Wal-Mart, Christmas shopping at Macy's, the veryyyyy occasional splurge at Starbucks? Are there cheap gift cards for stores out there?? In typical research-crazy-me fashion, I took to the net and found a website where you can buy other peoples' gift cards – mainly cards they got as Christmas or birthday presents, for a discount.
Apparently, there are a whole bunch of sites where you can sell your unwanted gift card to the company and buy an unwanted gift card from the company – for a reduced price. You can also check ebay and craigslist for buying giftcards, especially local ones – it's a great idea to check ebay for tourist attraction or hotel giftcards if you're planning a vacation – just make sure to be safe about whom you buy from!
The discount on gifts cards ain't huge – let's be honest – usually it's just five to 30 percent or so : but hey…. that's still a percent you save if you were already intending to buy an item from said store. It adds up to more money in your bank account – so checking the sites below is probably worth the extra effort if you have certain stores you regularly buy from or have an upcoming Christmas or birthday gift to purchase!
My favorite place to buy cheap gift cards online:
