Cheap Baby Shower Gifts That Don't Scream Cheap
As a new(ish) mom, and a friend whose been to a whole lotta baby showers over the past few years, I know that these fun and special events can come with a hefty price tag. I've looked for classy yet cheap baby shower gifts in stores – and usually what I find just screams "Cheap!" "Bargain Bin" or worse : "Final Sale". I say that us cheapskates on budgets can do better than that with our baby shower gifts – if we get a little bit creative. Therefore, I've come up with a round-up list of cheap but awesome baby shower gifts you can hold your head high when giving – whether you make these gifts or buy them! Enjoy, folks
1. DIY Mustache Pacifier and Tie Bib Set
For the mom expecting a baby boy, you can't get much cuter (or cheaper) than giving a mustache/tie pacifier and bib set as a new baby gift. Your gift will be a home run for sure! Check out the awesome tutorial from Markham Street Design!
2. Make A Bath or Diaper Supply Basket
Moms always need soap, lotion, baby oil, diaper rash creme, and powder. Find these on sale and put them in a pretty basket for a cute and very, very useful gift.
3. DIY Monthly Onesie Set with a Photo Album
The idea from Boogaboo Handmade is adorable and so simple – for every month – give a corresponding onesie with said number. New moms will go GAGA over this gift because they can photograph the baby in the onesie every month ! Give this gift with a cute photo album and this set will be a home run – not to mention super cheap. You can buy transfer printer iron on paper and print out cute numbers or just use fabric paint/markers if you are good at free-hand designs. You can get cheap packages of onesies anywhere really, but especially at Wal-Mart.
4. DIY Sushi Baby Shower Set
From Creative Dollar : For an original and very hip baby gift – yet still super cheap – wrap up burp cloths, bibs, and socks to look like Sushi on a plate. Check it out. I'm in love with this idea !
5. DIY Wall Abascus
Anything Pretty brings us this stylish, unusual and stunning diy gift : if you are handy and for friends you want to spend more time on – this gift is off da hook – a huge wall abascus – for only the price of wood and paint. Incredible. Seriously. I'm speechless.
6. DIY Portable Growth Chart Kit
From Whipper Berry, this brilliant portable growth chart kit is an incredibly thoughtful and original gift to bring to a baby shower. It's meaningful and easy to make with this great tutorial!
7. DIY New Moms Hospital Survival Kit
Make a hospital survival kit for moms : fill a bag with nice socks, lip balm, lotion, mini soaps, coins for the hospital vending machine, candy bars, mints, hand sanitizer and a mirror. Very thoughtful – and sure to be appreciated by new parents. I would have LOVED this !!!
8. DIY Pretty Burp Cloths
New parents always need burp cloths – and burp cloths are pretty cheap. Make prettier designer-style burp cloths to give with this awesome tutorial from Petite Lemon !
9. Make Your Own Baby Wipes Kit
I make my own baby wipes : read about it here. It's more natural for my baby's soft skin – and it saves me SOOOO much money. Bring the gift of year round savings to the next baby shower near you with a DIY Baby Wipes kit. Package together paper towels, baby shampoo, olive oil or baby shampoo and a container that the diy wipes can fit into – as well as a baby wipes recipe. This really, really is the gift that keeps on giving! ….

This is one of the coolest gifts I've ever seen and any new mom will be forever grateful for this! Another gift I really wish I'd gotten at my baby shower !
